Dental Health

Visiting the dentist regularly is about more than cleaning your teeth and checking for cavities. While these parts of a dental visit and exam are important, dental check-ups can reveal a great deal about your overall health. Research suggests that the health of your mouth is directly related to the condition of your body as a whole. Experiencing poor dental health can be an indicator of bigger problems, such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, and various cancers. With regular oral exams, your dentist may be able to detect and diagnose a health problem in its early stages.
Not having good oral hygiene can also have an effect on your health and wellbeing. Problems may include oral and facial pain, problems with the heart and other major organs, and digestive issues.
Seeing a dentist regularly helps keep your mouth in good health and allows your dentist to watch for development of bigger issues. Between dental visits, you can practice good dental hygiene by:

▪ Brushing for two to three minutes, at least twice a day.
▪ Flossing daily to remove plaque from places your toothbrush can’t reach.
▪ Eating a healthy diet to provide the nutrients necessary to prevent gum disease.
▪ Avoiding cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, which may contribute to gum disease and oral cancer.

Tofu and Veggies

Ingredients:
* 30 oz Mori-Nu® Silken extra-firm tofu
* 6 cups (1 large bunch) raw spinach
* 2 cups (18 medium) mushrooms, cut
* 1 cup (1 small) zucchini, cut into chunks
* ¼ cup Newman’s Own® Lighten Up Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
* 1 Tbsp fresh rosemary

Note: Tofu can vary significantly in its nutritional content, depending on the type and brand. If you choose to use an alternative tofu, follow these guidelines for your Lean & Green Meal:
• 250-350 calories total (including all Lean, Green, and Healthy Fat servings)
• Greater than 10 g fat total (including all Lean, Green, and Healthy Fat servings)
• Less than 1250 mg sodium
• Less than 15 g total carbohydrate
• Greater than 25 g protein

Directions:
Cut zucchini into small chunks. Place all ingredients in a large re-sealable plastic bag. Let ingredients marinate for at least one hour. Flip bag over every 15 minutes to help evenly coat vegetables and tofu. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Remove tofu from bag, place in a bowl, and set aside. Pour the rest of the ingredients into skillet. Sauté vegetables until tender (8-10 minutes), then add tofu to skillet. Cook tofu until heated through and lightly browned (2-3 minutes). Remove skillet from heat and serve.

Makes 4 servings. Each serving provides:
½ leaner
3 green
1 healthy fat
