Life gets extremely hectic and sometimes it can feel like you’re a hamster spinning in a wheel, giving it all your effort yet going nowhere and not getting anything done. The secret to doing it all in no time at all is to have the best time management strategies and tips in place to set you up for success before beginning. It’s important to keep in mind that achieving total health and wellness naturally also includes the wellness of your mind and spirit!

Be stress free with these time management tips:

Prioritize and “RSVP”
If you know you have 20 things to do (and only have the time to do about 10 of them), it’s time to prioritize and “RSVP” to your to do list. The concept of RSVPing isn’t new, but many aren’t familiar with applying the principle to your to do list. Take a moment to browse through your list of outstanding tasks and think about the importance of each one. Begin to prioritize them and sort through what’s more important. For any task that doesn’t make the doable list, RSVP, “no,” or “maybe.” The RSVP concept applies to those who have to do lists that incorporate other people. Keeping others informed about your schedule allows them to plan their time efficiently as well. Know that it is OK to say no if you truly can’t give a task your best.

YOU Time
When you aren’t feeling your best, you won’t be able to give anything your all. Take time throughout the week to schedule in personal time to relax and unwind. Everyone has different ideas of what they find relaxing, but taking a half hour after work each day to take a walk, scheduling one massage a month, or even checking in with your chiropractor for a weekly adjustment are things that should never be pushed aside. As long as your time is scheduled in advance, it will be easy to plan days accordingly to get everything done and still enjoy this time. Unfortunately personal care and relaxation tend to be bumped to the bottom of one’s list; leaving individuals working until they collapse physically or mentally from exhaustion. Take some time for YOU!

Structure Your Environment
Believe it or not, your environment can be the difference between successfully managing your time and failing. An easy example of structuring your environment for your success would be to evaluate your morning routine. Do you always wake up, immediately shower, make coffee, and then pack your bag for work? Perhaps your current routine takes 35 minutes to complete. Try tweaking this process to make it more efficient! In line with the current example, you could schedule your coffee pot to automatically start brewing while you’re in the shower, and you could pack your briefcase during a commercial of your favorite show the night before. You’ll see an instant time savings that will allow you to invest precious minutes elsewhere.

Think smart and smart acts will immediately follow! What’s your most valuable time management strategy that you use to stay on track?
