Hi Jeff,
One of the challenges that many people experience when attempting to lose weight and/or get healthy is the need for immediate gratification. I am a total advocate of experiencing momentum in the early stages of making a health change, but getting healthy (and staying healthy) is a lifetime decision.
Before I go into greater detail on this subject, please make sure to join me (and hundreds of others) for this week’s Habits of Health webinar – it is going to be a blast!
The Habits of Health Webinar is on Wednesday night at 5:30pm PST (6:30pm M, 7:30pm C, 8:30pm E)

Playing the long game
The weight loss industry is filled with broken promises, gimmicks and tricks, and programs that not only miss the mark, but are also potentially unhealthy. The outcome are people who have the burning desire to improve their health, but instead are left feeling discouraged with their lack of results.
The key is to make a fundamental choice to become a healthy person at the core. If your goals only surround weight loss (or feeling better and looking better), you are setting yourself up for the yo-yo cycle. Think about it- what happens when you start to feel better? You lose your “motivation” to continue. When your goals are deeper- BECOMING someone with new habits of health, you are setting yourself up for success long-term!
As a Health Coach, my number one goal is to help people find their own intrinsic motivation within, so that they are able to reach the point of a lifestyle transformation. For some it happens very quickly, but for others it is an uphill battle they must climb (with my support) if they are going to accomplish their goal. I’m excited to be on this journey together (p.s. I’m not perfect either!)
Need to ask a Doc?
The Client Support Call is every Wednesday at 5pm Pac (6pm Mtn, 7pm Cst, 8pm Est) where you can dial into a call, hear a great health tip and get your questions answered directly by a OPTAVIA™ health care professional.
