Whether you LOVE the morning, or your dread the alarm clock, having a routine is guaranteed to make your day more productive. Here are some ideas to consider…
Help Your Future Self If you know you have limited time, your morning routine might need to start before you go to sleep the night before. Have your outfit laid out including everything from shirts to socks and shoes, ensure lunch is packed and ready to grab from the fridge along with your briefcase/purse. Not only will you sleep better knowing you won’t forget anything important, you’ll start the morning off smoothly. Lemon Water and Stretching Are you guilty of waiting until the last absolute minute possible to get out of bed? Many of us don’t enjoy waking up and this process can put us in a sour mood for the rest of the day. Ease the pain of having to get up by starting your morning with some stretching and yoga. Loosen up the body and start your morning slow. Stretch your upper back, chest, and sides followed by your hamstrings to wake up your body and to ease into the day’s motions. Sip a glass of room temperature lemon water to setup your digestion and begin to envision positive outcomes for the day. Your Commute Commuting to work is usually the next step of one’s day after waking up. It doesn’t matter if you drive, walk, or take public transportation – you can take steps to streamline your commute and turn it into a block of time that you can leverage each day. Have you always wanted to learn about history? Find a podcast or audiobook that you can listen to on your commute! Still feeling groggy? Listen to some relaxing music to finish waking up. Many people react to their morning versus proactively setting up their day. Take control of those first few hours and watch what will happen to your life!
